How to download an X Live replay as MP4

Yes. To download an X Live replay, open savethex.com/x-live-downloader (or the homepage), paste the public post URL for an ended Live, tap Get media, wait for preparation to finish, then download the MP4.

Currently running live streams are not supported until the broadcast ends and a public replay exists.

Use SaveTheX when the Live has ended and X shows a public replay on a status post.

If the stream is still live, wait. SaveTheX is not a real-time capture tool for ongoing broadcasts.

A public X / Twitter post that links an ended Live or broadcast replay.

Any modern browser. No X account and no SaveTheX account.

Copy the public post URL from X (Share → Copy link).

Paste it on savethex.com, or add savethe in front of x.com and open the new link.

Tap Get media and choose a quality.

Wait while the button shows “Preparing…”. Keep the tab open.

When preparation finishes, download the finished MP4.

SaveTheX remuxes HLS segments to a finished MP4 on the server, then starts a normal download of that file.

Hour-long lives can take several minutes. Opening or saving early often yields only the first segment — commonly about eight seconds of a long replay.

If a player shows ~8 seconds of a long Live, preparation almost certainly did not finish. Keep the tab open, run the download again, and wait for “Preparing…” to clear.

Private or protected posts will not resolve. The Live must be public.
